Rooms with River Views

The Stag Head Hotel offers Twin Rooms and Family Rooms, each with views across the River Forth. Rooms include a flat-screen TV, electric kettle, wardrobe, and free toiletries in the private bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities are available. Note: On Friday and Saturday nights, a disco runs until 01:00, which may cause noise in some rooms.

Classic British Dining

The onsite bar serves classic British pub lunches daily until 17:30. The restaurant offers British cuisine, and breakfast is available every morning with Continental and Full English/Irish options.

Historic Coastal Location

The hotel is an early 17th-century coaching inn on South Queensferry's cobbled High Street, overlooking the ancient harbor. Nearby landmarks include Queensferry Parish Church (0.5 km), Queensferry Museum (0.5 km), and Deep Sea World (2 km). The No. 43 Lothian bus stops nearby, and Dalmeny Station is a short walk away.

Local Attractions & Walks

South Queensferry features independent cafes, gift shops, and colorful houses along the high street. Walk the coastal path for views toward Fife and Leith, visit Hawthorn Bank Garden Mosaic Wall, or explore Port Edgar marina.

Practical Amenities

Free WiFi is available, and pets are allowed. The hotel has non-smoking rooms, a licensed bar, and beachfront access. Each room includes heating, linen, and hand sanitizer. Private bathrooms have a shower, hairdryer, and towels.

“This hotel in charming Queensferry has friendly staff and functional, exceptionally clean rooms, plus a generous hospitality tray; views might include a courtyard, the ocean, and bridges. Bear in mind that some rooms have only a bath, not a shower, and there's no lift to the upper floors, which might present a challenge. Overall, it's a cozy base for exploring the seaside town.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Stag Head Hotel enjoys a great location near the bus stop and a short walk from the 747 bus to the airport. Many guests appreciate the spacious rooms, some of which boast wonderful views of the rail bridge and the sea; also, the big bathtub is an extra appreciated feature. While some found the hotel a bit noisy due to the bar, others have enjoyed the convenience of on-site parking. The generous hospitality tray, particularly the ample coffee and sugar sachets, is another recurring positive point.

staff were friendly AND helpful. The bus stop was near the hotel less than one minute walk. The price of the hotel was reasonable.
the young guy behind the bar seemed he couldn't care less, i had heavy luggage AND he never even offered to help me upstairs with it. When i asked for directions, he just said look up satnav. it was UNHELPFUL.

adequate stay in queensferry

clean room generous hospitality tray good location inadequate radiator expensive room meal absence
My room was clean. the hospitality tray included generous quantities of coffee and sugar sachets. the location is good for catching the 747 bus to the airport early in the morning. It's only a short walk. the bathtub is big.
the radiator in the room wasn't adequate for the size of the room. thermal heating plates would have helped. the room was expensive for what was offered. neither breakfast nor an evening meal was included.
